MacCrone answers rally call and raises £1,600 for the TCCL Lodge appeal
(3rd August 2015)

Scottish rally driver John MacCrone raised £1,600 for TCCL – Tayside Children with Cancer & Leukaemia – a charity that raises money to help the families of Tayside, Angus, North East Fife and Perthshire, who are affected by childhood cancer or leukaemia – following his appearance on the recent McRae Rally Challenge at Knockhill.

Thanks to the support of his sponsors – Watermans, Oilfast, TSL Contractors, Colin M Smith, GS Robertson and Pirelli – the 25-year old driver from Mull was able to put on a great show for the Knockhill fans in his Ford Fiesta R5, raising awareness and £1,000 for this great cause at the same time. MacCrone also raised an additional £600 via his own TCCL fundraising page: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/johnmaccrone1

MacCrone was delighted to present a cheque to Hazel Melrose, the Secretary of TCCL, at the Colin M Smith electrical showroom in Forfar.

The money raised will go towards the purchase of TV and video equipment for the TCCL Lodge at St Andrews, which is a holiday home for children with cancer. More information on this amazing project is available on its website: www.tccl-lodge.org.uk.

John Walker, TCCL Chairperson said: “We are delighted that John has chosen to support TCCL. His contribution will go a long way to assisting us with the completion of TCCL Lodge. We hope our first families will be coming to stay this autumn.”

It wasn’t only MacCrone’s rally sponsors and generous on-line supporters that helped him raise the £1,600. Despite working long hours during a bitterly cold May weekend at Knockhill, Nicola Harper from Two Jays Catering not only kept all the team and VIP guests fed and happy, she also contributed to the fund – as did the team’s young wind and rain-lashed video cameraman Adam Smith, from FiveStageMedia.

John MacCrone said: “It’s a real honour to be able to help such a worthy cause like the TCCL and the TCCL Lodge appeal. I’m delighted to have raised so much during our outing on the recent McRae Rally Challenge at Knockhill, and I would like to thank all our team partners for their generosity. Hopefully, we can continue to work together in rallying to raise awareness and more money for TCCL.”
